DME/O&P Resources

Practical reference material for healthcare organizations managing DME and O&P.

DME and O&P span a broad range of products, clinical specialties, supplier capabilities, reimbursement requirements, and service models. ARCLYFT Health has compiled the resources below to help health plans, medical groups, IPAs, health systems, and other healthcare organizations navigate the categories and terminology they encounter when managing DME/O&P. These resources are intended as practical reference tools — not substitutes for applicable coverage policies, contracts, regulatory requirements, or clinical guidance.

DME (Durable Medical Equipment) Categories

Durable medical equipment spans a broad range of products, clinical needs, service models, and recurring supply requirements. The categories below highlight the major DME service areas ARCLYFT Health works across and the capabilities commonly found within each.

Scope Note: Power mobility devices, complex rehabilitative seating, and adaptive vehicle modifications are outside ARCLYFT Health's advisory scope. Standard and manual wheelchairs remain within ARCLYFT Health's DME scope.

Orthotics & Prosthetics Categories

O&P is a highly specialized segment of DMEPOS spanning routine bracing, complex custom orthoses, prosthetic technologies, pediatric care, specialty garments, and other clinical services. The categories below provide a practical view of the major O&P capabilities organizations may encounter when evaluating networks, utilization, and vendor capabilities.

O&P Clinical & Operating Expertise: ARCLYFT Health's O&P advisory capabilities are informed by more than 20 years of direct patient care and operational experience across a broad range of orthotic and prosthetic specialties. Spencer Doty is an ABC Board-Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist in good standing and has extensive clinical experience in both adult and pediatric O&P. He also previously served as a paneled provider for California Children's Services (CCS), providing additional experience with the clinical, operational, and coverage considerations unique to pediatric O&P. His former O&P organization also maintained specialized programs in several service areas that have become increasingly niche within the industry, including diabetic and therapeutic footwear, compression garment therapy, burn and scar management, and post-mastectomy care.

DME/O&P Care Delivery Models

How DME/O&P reaches the patient can be just as important as the product being provided. Delivery models vary based on product complexity, clinical need, mobility, urgency, fitting requirements, and the level of education or support required.
